As I hurriedly walked to the nearest
jeepney stop from our house, I passed by kids who are enjoying the game
of “labayanay lapok” (throwing of mud). I was quite amused with what
these kids were doing to themselves and what agony they will later be
giving their mothers. At the sight of these kids, I thought of the
American/Australian/Japanese/Canadian kids who were enjoying snowball
fights in this time of winter. Ever since I was a kid, I have been
dreaming of touching and playing with snow with my siblings, and making
a snowman out of it just like what we see in the cartoons. As a kid, I
even imagined snow and winter as a place where ice cream is everywhere!
I even thought that snow can be mixed with evaporated milk and sugar,
and it would taste something like a milkshake. Hhhmm.. I even hoped
that snow would fall here in the Philippines(ahaha..I know it would be
very impossible…and if that happens, well, the world is probably in
danger). Even up to now, I am looking forward to the time when I can
see snow with my own naked eyes, enjoy it, and feel like a kid again.
Watching the kids play with mud made me think again of the
American/Australian/Japanese/Canadian kids all over the world. Do they
dream of playing with mud, holding it like they were holding melted
chocolates, this and that? There remains to be a possibility. Baka nga meron…who knows? Hehe.. At least we could make use of mud when snow is not available yet.
